Gravity roller conveyor (GRC)
A gravity conveyor moves the load without utilizing motor power sources with an incline or through a person pushing the load along a flat conveyor. Gravity roller conveyors transport products or work in process from one work area to another
Gravity roller will convey light, medium, and heavy loads that have firm flat bottoms such as cartons, cases, skids, drums, etc.
Power and free roller conveyor (PFRC)
Power and free conveyors are the workhorse of the overhead conveyor product family. Power and free conveyors are typically used to transport parts along an assembly line from one process to another. Power and Free conveyors also enable product to buffer along the conveyor path. They are extremely versatile because they allow parts to stop and start automatically as required.
Power and Free conveyors are generally considered to be part of the family of overhead conveyor systems. The most basic overhead conveyor system is the hand push trolley system (with a trolley on an I-beam or enclosed track). When a motor and chain is added to the system, these conveyors can move continuously or stop/start (indexing mode) with the parts moving along with the chain. Power and Free conveyor systems are the most useful conveyor as the loads can engage and disengage with the moving chain.
Power roller conveyors (PRC)
Any conveyor that is powered by a mechanical device that moves materials or products along a conveyor line, other than by gravity or by manually pushing the payload, is a powered conveyor. Power Conveyors are typically roller conveyors that use motor powered rollers to move the payload. The conveyor rollers are powered by belts, chains, etc depending on the load.
